African Govts must prioritize its investment in people - VP Osinbajo

Vice president Yemi Osinbajo tweet some part of his speech at the inauguration of the African Studies Centre's International Advisory Board in Oxford School of Global and Area Studies, University of Oxford. The lecture title "The Challenges of Human Development in 21st Century Africa",

He wrote:

African Governments must prioritize its investment in people. Interventions to increase growth and incomes alone, are clearly incomplete and must be matched by interventions to tackle deprivation and complete destitution.

All over Africa, the political will to better the lot of our restive populations is evident, innovative ideas are also in abundance; if we keep our focus, especially on good governance, the next two decades may truly be the African decades.

Human capital development must be a priority of public policy of governments across Africa, to effectively tackle multidimensional poverty and improve long-term development on the continent.

Investing in our people is a major pillar of the Buhari administration's Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP).

Governments are also best placed to deploy the public policy tools required to bring about synergy between growth objectives and social needs.

I shared all of these and more at the Lecture says Osinbajo
