What The National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP) Entails - VP Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is  in Adamawa State to launch the State-adopted model of the NationaI Livestock Transformation Plan.

According to VP Osinbajo, the National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP) is an initiative of the National Economic Council headed by myself with all the State Governors as members. It is a comprehensive policy plan designed to accelerate the pace and scope of change in Nigeria’s agricultural system.

The #NLTP aims to build an ecosystem for Livestock production, peaceful coexistence, economic development and food security.

The NLTP is a product of consultations among different stakeholders, State Governors, Community leaders, Farmers, Herders and other relevant persons.

Each state is responsible for a suitable delivery mechanism for the NLTP. Basically, each state decides on what works for their state.

There is no land qrab but a win-win system where both farmers and herders benefit economically and the age-long conflict and tension stop.

The National Livestock Transformation Plan is different from RUGA.  The RUGA plan was scrapped by President Muhammadu Buhari in July, 2019.
