NPHCDA Onboarding PFMOs To Boost PHC Accountability Results

The Nigeria Primary health care Development Agency NPHCDA said that they are onboarding PFMOs to boost PHC accountability, results in Primary health Care center across the country.

Performance and Financial Management Officers (PFMOs) are integral to improving the efficiency, accountability and long-term sustainability of Primary Health Centers (PHCs) across Nigeria. Tasked with overseeing both financial and operational activities, PFMOs ensure that healthcare resources are utilized optimally to support the nation’s goal of achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

By tracking expenditures, verifying financial reports, and monitoring service delivery, PFMOs help safeguard the financial integrity of PHCs while enhancing the quality of care provided to communities.

Objectives Of PFMOs:

1. Ensure transparency, accountability, and vali for money in PHC financing and resource allocation.

2. Improve PHC service quality by tracking financial and operational activities to support data-driven decisions.

3. Strengthen reporting mechanisms and enhance resource utilization to support Nigeria's Universal Health Coverage (UHC) goals.

According to Nigeria's Primary Health Care Development Agency, Gombe, Ekiti, Akwa Ibom & Ondo States are already at the table.

Recruitment of some PFMOs took place late last year 2024.
