The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has mandated the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development(FMARD) to put in place, not less than 75,000 (Seventy Five Thousand) Agricultural Extension Workers. This was confirmed by the Hon. Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Hon. Mustapha Baba Shehuri in Maiduguri, Borno State when he visited the State Office of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in the State.

The Hon. Minister commended the Management and Staff of Borno State Office of FMARD who have kept the Office in business despite the huge challenges in the region.

The Minister pointed that Borno State is known for Agriculture and Trading, according to history. The Minister, therefore, enjoined the Borno State Office of FMARD to bring Agriculture back to life in Borno State. The Minister promised that the new mandates given to the Ministry by the President Muhammadu Buhari will provide solution to their challenges.

Despite security challenges, the good time is returning gradually. Even though the job is not directly from the government, Agriculture has engaged more than 60% of Nigerians today. So, we need to motivate those in the agriculture sector so as to ease their jobs.

During the visit, the Borno State Coordinator, FMARD, congratulated the Minister on his reappointment and he expressed his team's joy in the resourcefulness of Mustapha Shehuri. The State Coordinator used the opportunity to inform the Hon. Minister about their challenges which are mostly in the area of staff welfare.

In the remark of the Regional Director, North East Region, Mr. Shimo Mela, he appreciated Hon. Mustapha Baba Shehuri for the visit as the Minister is one of the very few to have ever visited Borno State. He thanked the Minister for his proactiveness in issues that concern the youth. The Working Visit of the Hon. Minister continues today in Home State
