If you run a POS business and don't want to lose your business on the 1st of January 2026, do this immediately. According to CAC
The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has released an important public notice announcing its plan to shut down all illegal PoS operations beginning 1st January 2026. This action follows the rising number of PoS operators running without CAC registration, which violates CAMA 2020 and CBN Agent Banking Regulations.
This reckless practice, often enabled by some fintech companies, puts Nigeria’s financial system and citizens’ investments at serious risk. According to the CAC, this must stop.
1. No PoS operator will be allowed to operate without CAC registration.
2. Security agencies will enforce nationwide compliance.
3. Unregistered PoS terminals will be seized or shut down by security officials.
