FG Call For Application: Accelerated Teacher Professionalisation Pathway ATPP

The Accelerated Teacher Professionalisation Pathway (ATPP) is a Nigerian Federal Government programme designed to help non-professional teachers (those already teaching who have academic qualifications but lack formal pedagogical training and professional certification) gain the necessary education credentials and become eligible for registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).

Through the Accelerated Teacher Professionalisation Pathway (ATPP), FG is providing a structured pathway for teachers already serving in our classrooms without formal professional education training to become qualified, certified and licensed, while continuing to serve their schools and communities.

ATPP is not simply a training programme. It is a national professionalisation pathway that strengthens teacher competence, raises professional standards, safeguards our children and ultimately improves learning outcomes across Nigeria.

Who is ATPP For:

• Non-professional teachers with non education degrees currently teaching
• HND, ND and OND holders currently teaching
• Non-professional teachers in public, non-state, ECCDE, primary, secondary, TVET, non-formal and alternative settings
• Community instructors and volunteer educators

The ATPP is implemented by the Federal Ministry of Education in collaboration with the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI) and TRCN. The programme is framed as a rigorous, structured pathway—not a shortcut—combining intensive training, supervised practicum/teaching practice, and mentorship, aligned with the TRCN Professional Standards for Teachers and drawing from the PGDE framework.
