According to professor Mahmud yakub, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), about One million ad hoc members of staff will be recruited by the commission to conduct the 2019 general election. The INEC chairman disclosed this to the Senate Commission on INEC on Wednesday.
The Reasons why are:
1) INEC intends to make the number of ad hoc staff to be deployed for 2019 general election 300 greater than the 700 engaged for the 2015 general election.
2) To make provision for adequate manpower for the exercise on a general template
3) The commission is planning to make the five categories of disfranchised Nigeria participate in the 2019 general elections.
The INEC Chairman also stated that adequate training will be provided for those who would handle the equipment to avoid irregularities recorded in the last poll.
