Apply: NSFAS Application 2026 For South Africans - The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) was established in terms of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (Act 56 of 1999). The mission statement is made up of three distinct elements, which describe why NSFAS exists and its impact on the constituency:

1) NSFAS exists to provide financial aid to eligible students at TVET colleges and public universities

2) NSFAS identifies eligible students, provides bursaries, and collects past student loan repayments to replenish the funds available for future generations of students; and

3) NSFAS supports access to, and success in, higher education and training for students from poor and working-class families who would otherwise not be able to afford to study.

NSFAS is inviting interested South Africans to apply for its 2026 NSFAS application.

Interested Applicants should go to https://www.nsfas.org.za to apply.

Application closing date: 15th November 2025.

Who qualified for NSFAS funding:

You are encouraged to apply if you meet the following criteria:

a. You are a South African citizen or permanent resident

b. Your combined gross household income not exceeding R350 000 per annum

c. If you are a person with a disability, your their combined gross household income does not exceed R600 000 per annum

d. You are planning to study at one of the 26 South African Public Universities or 50 TVET Colleges

e. You are currently registered at one of 26 South African Public Universities or 50 TVET Colleges and are not funded by NSFAS
