Apply for South Africa National Youth Service Incubator Programme 2026

The National Youth Development Agency (nyda) has officially opened applications for the 2026 National Youth Service Incubator. This 12-month capacity-building programme is designed specifically to strengthen youth-led NPOs and maximize their social impact.

What is the NYS Incubator?

This is not a funding opportunity, but rather a high-level Capacity Building Programme. Over the course of a year, selected NPOs will undergo intensive coaching, mentorship, and training focused on the essential building blocks of a successful organization:

  • Governance and Compliance: Ensuring your NPO meets all legal and ethical standards.
  • Leadership and Training: Developing the people behind the mission.
  • Financial Management: Mastering resource mobilization and fiscal responsibility.
  • Programme Implementation: Learning the ins and outs of project management.

Eligibility Criteria

To ensure the programme supports the right stage of growth, the following criteria apply:

  • Youth-Led: Leadership must be between 18–35 years old.
  • South African Based: The NPO must be local and actively implementing community programmes.
  • Registered & Operational: Your NPO must be registered between 2024 and 2026 (no more than 3 years old).
  • Ownership: The organization must be 100% youth-owned.

Note: Profit-making entities, political groups, and individuals employed full-time or in the service of the state are excluded from this specific call.

Essential Requirements for Your Application

Applying requires a comprehensive set of documents. Make sure you have these ready to submit in a ZIP file or merged PDF:

For Legal and Compliance, you will need your NPO Registration Certificate and a SARS Tax Compliance Status Pin Issued Certificate.

For Financial Records, please provide a Proof of Bank Account (in the name of the NPO, not an individual) and a Treasury Central Supplier Database (CSD) Report.

Supporting Evidence must include two or more Testimonial Letters, an Organizational Profile (not a proposal), and Proof of Project Site Address, such as a lease agreement or letter signed by a Councillor.

Finally, for Leadership Documentation, you must submit Directors’ CVs and Certified ID Copies that are not older than 6 months.

Your Organizational Profile is key. It should detail your leadership demographics, your geographic reach, your achievements to date, and how you advocate for women and people living with disabilities.
