Google has sent out Legal Notice on Tax changes to Google business account holders in Nigeria stating that starting from April 1, 2022 Google will be required to charge 7.5% VAT on all taxable goods and services

What is Google business account?

A Google Business Account is a free tool that allows you to take charge of the way your business appears on Google Search and Maps. With your Business Account you can connect with customers, post updates, list your products and services, accept online orders, and more.

Examples of this account are: Google adsense account, AdWords account, etc are google business accounts. And if you are a owner of such account, you will be entitled to pay 7.5% vat beginning from 1st April 2022.

Hello, Due to new legislation in Nigeria, starting April 1, 2022, Google will be required to charge 7.5% VAT on all taxable goods and services. No action is required on your side with regard to your Google business account.

Notable changes to your Google business account:

  1. The amount of VAT charged on your purchases will appear as a separate line in your account
  2. Your invoice or statement will show the amount of VAT charged Google can't advise you on tax matters, so please contact your tax adviser for any questions regarding this change. Thank you, The Google Payments Team
