FG Using Sustainable Solar Power To End Power Shortage In University, Teaching Hospital

FG provides sustainable Solar power to FG University, Teaching Hospital through Energizing Education Initiative an Initiative of the Rural Electrification Agency REALREANIGERIA and the aim is to provide sustainable and clean power supply to 37 Federal Universities and 7 University Teaching hospitals across Nigeria.

Phase 1 of the Initiative will deliver 28.5MW to 9 Federal Unis and 7 Teaching Hospitals using solar hybrid and/or gas-fired captive power plants.

You will recollect that a few weeks ago, FG commissioned the 2.8MW solar hybrid power project at the Alex Ekwueme University in Ebonyi State. While in Kano State, VP Osinbajo commissioned the 7.1MW solar hybrid power plant in Bayero University, Kano. This is the largest off grid solar hybrid power plant in Africa.

The installed 7.1MW decentralized solar hybrid power plant funded by the FGN Green Bond will supply 58,000 students and staff with clean, safe and reliable electricity.
