Burna Boy Tasks Verydarkman With $100k To Free Prisoners and Clear Hospital Bills

Nigerian music superstar Burna Boy has made a remarkable humanitarian move by donating $100,000, equivalent to about ₦150 million, to give a new lease of life to Nigerians affected by poverty and systemic challenges.

The donation is targeted at two critical areas: prisoners who have remained in custody for years because they are unable to pay minor fines, and patients in government and public hospitals who are burdened by unpaid medical bills.

Across Nigeria, many individuals are in prison not because of serious crimes, but simply because they could not pay fines as low as ₦30,000, ₦50,000, or ₦300,000. For these people, freedom has been delayed for years due to financial hardship.

How the ₦150 Million Will Be Used

Out of the total donation, $50,000 (₦75 million) has been earmarked for the release of fined prisoners. This will help secure the freedom of inmates who are legally eligible for release but remain behind bars solely because they cannot pay their fines.

The remaining $50,000 (₦75 million) will be used to clear outstanding hospital bills for patients receiving treatment in government and public hospitals across the country.

The responsibility for executing this project has been entrusted to VeryDarkMan. He confirmed that the money is currently in his custody while proper documentation, verification, and transparency processes are being carried out.

As part of the plan, data of fined prisoners from all 36 states of Nigeria will be collected to ensure that the funds are distributed fairly and reach those who genuinely deserve assistance. The same structured process will be applied to hospital bill payments.

This initiative is expected to give many beneficiaries a fresh start in 2026, restoring freedom to prisoners and easing the burden on families struggling with medical expenses.
