FG Issues Urgent Disclaimer On Fake NMDPRA Recruitment

Published: February 2, 2026

It is a difficult time for job seekers when fraudsters prey on hope. The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has released an urgent public notice to protect citizens from a growing recruitment scam.

"The NMDPRA is compelled to publish this disclaimer alerting the public to the activities of some unscrupulous persons who are exploiting young, economically vulnerable and unsuspecting Nigerians..."

The Fraudulent Scheme

According to the Authority, fake recruitment syndicates are currently masterminding fraudulent activities by:

  • Issuing bogus "Letters of Employment" and making empty promises.
  • Offering non-existent positions at various levels within the agency.
  • Extorting huge sums of money from unsuspecting applicants.

Official Position: No Active Recruitment

The NMDPRA has stated categorically that it is NOT conducting any recruitment exercise currently. No employment offers are being issued, and the agency is not undertaking any hiring via third parties or private individuals.

Any future recruitment will strictly follow the extant rules guiding the Nigerian Public Service and will be announced through official government channels.

How to Verify Authentic Information

To avoid falling victim to these scams, the public is advised to refer only to official sources:

  • Official Website: www.nmdpra.gov.ng
  • Social Media: Verified accounts on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.

The Authority urges all Nigerians to ignore these spurious claims, as their only objective is to defraud the public and tarnish the reputation of the NMDPRA.

George Ene-Ita
Director, Public Affairs Department, NMDPRA
