SMEDAN Empowered 1,480 SMEs With Brand New Laptops

According to the update shared by Moshood Lawal Head, Corporate Affairs SMEDAN, the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria SMEDAN have distributed 1,480 brand new laptops to SMEs across the 36 state of Nigeria who participated in the recent digital skills training program organized by SMEDAN in Abuja.

The Director General/CEO of SMEDAN Dr. Olawale Fasanya said the Agency is equipping MSMEs in Nigeria with Digital Skills that will enable them explore the Global markets through the instrument of Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement.

The DG stated this at the closing ceremony of the Digital Training and Empowerment programme that held in Abuja, he was joined by the Deputy Chairman House Committee on SMEs Hon. Obed Shehu. A total of 1,480 laptops were distributed across the 36 states including FCT and the participants were trained in several online tools that will accelerate the promotion of their businesses.

Several of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Agency for the great opportunity provided for them and commended the DG for allowing a transparent selection process that ensured the laptops were given to the people who will make good use of it. They equally promised to make the Agency proud by using it to expand their business potentials beyond the frontiers of the African markets.

Other dignitaries at the event advised the young beneficiaries not to dispose of the laptops but put it to good use as there are multitude of young Nigerians who would have loved to benefit from this scheme. They equally called on SMEDAN to consider expanding the scope to ensure more people get access to the training as well as the laptops, although budgetary constraints could be a hindrance.
