FG to Launch BRIDGE Platform for Global Academic Ties
In a significant move to enhance Nigeria's global academic ties, the Federal Ministry of Education has announced the official launch of the Diaspora BRIDGE Platform scheduled for Monday, July 28th, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the State House, Abuja. This innovative initiative is aimed at connecting Nigerian professionals and academics in the diaspora with tertiary institutions and research bodies across the country.
The unveiling will be led by His Excellency, the Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima GCON, alongside the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa CON. The platform, which stands for Bridging Research, Innovation, Development, and Global Engagement, is designed as a strategic tool to drive institutional collaboration. foster institutional collaboration, foster innovation, and position Nigeria’s education sector as a hub for global knowledge exchange.

With features that allow diaspora experts to register, highlight their areas of expertise, and collaborate directly with Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, the platform promises to bridge long-standing gaps between Nigerian institutions and global academic resources. It also empowers local institutions to signal their needs and establish structured, demand-driven partnerships.
The Diaspora BRIDGE platform will also integrate with existing government systems such as the TERAS platform, boosting transparency, academic matchmaking, and project tracking. It will be equipped with modern virtual collaboration tools to ensure seamless and productive engagements.
The Federal Ministry of Education has called on all stakeholders in education, research, and the general public to engage with the platform and explore the numerous opportunities it brings.
