NCTO Releases Latest On HoPE Cash Transfer Programme
The National Cash Transfer Office NCTO has released its latest progress report, highlighting the transformative impact of the HoPE-CT Programme. Designed to reduce poverty and promote human capital development, the initiative provides direct cash transfers to vulnerable households across the nation. Supported by the World Bank and the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, this program is a cornerstone of Nigeria's social safety net.
Programme Reach: As of January 2026, a total of 9,178,837 beneficiaries have received at least ₦25,000.
Demographic Breakdown
Regional and Gender Distribution: The program serves both rural and urban populations, with 5,038,359 beneficiaries located in rural areas and 4,141,478 in urban centers. From a gender perspective, the initiative shows a strong commitment to women's empowerment: Female beneficiaries account for 5,391,225 (58.7%) of the total, while Male beneficiaries represent 3,787,612 (41.3%).
Age Distribution Data
Beneficiaries by Age Group: The age distribution shows a significant concentration of support for older citizens. The 18–25 age group includes 1,482,105 recipients; the 26–35 group includes 1,674,213; the 36–50 group includes 1,751,204; the 51–65 group represents the largest segment with 3,982,143 recipients; and the 65+ group includes 289,172 beneficiaries.
Payment Tranche Progress
Tranche Statistics: Consistency in funding is vital for household stability. The First Tranche successfully reached all 9,178,837 beneficiaries. The Second Tranche has been distributed to 7,203,579 individuals, and the Third Tranche has currently reached 6,497,089 recipients as the program continues its rollout.
