Federal Government Kicks Off NHFP Cohort 2 Nationwide in 774 LGAs

The Federal Government has announced the official launch of Cohort II of the National Health Fellows Programme NHFP at the State House on Tuesday 17 February 2026, graced by H.E. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The launch formed part of a series of key national initiatives under the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

The President charged the Fellows with a call to service, stating: “To our Health Fellows, serve with honour, humility and courage. The nation believes in you.” His words reflect the trust placed in this new generation of young professionals who will play a vital role in strengthening primary health care across the country.

Cohort II will be deployed across all 774 LGAs, where they will support local health authorities, enhance service delivery, and help drive community-level interventions. Building on the foundation laid by the inaugural cohort, this new group of Fellows represents a renewed commitment to advancing equitable access to essential health services nationwide.
