SASSA Announces Grant Payment Dates For 2026 To 2027 Financial Year

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed the social grants dates for the 2026/2027 financial year amid approval by National Treasury on Friday, 20 March 2026.

According to SASSA, the general principle for determining the grant payment dates for social grants is to ensure they are paid as early in the month as possible, staggered over three days. In most months the old age grant will be paid on the 2nd of each month, disability grant on the 3rd of the month and children grants on the 4th of the month.

However, to ensure the optimal functioning, the National Payment System and access to funds by grant beneficiaries, the following are also considered:

• Payments should not be made a day after a holiday.
• Payments should not be made on the 1st of the month or a Monday; and
• Payment dates should not fall over a weekend.

In addition, should any of the payment dates fall on a weekend or public holiday, the payment will take effect the following working day.

Approved Social Grant Payment Dates 2026/2027

April 2026: Older Person’s Grant on 02 April, Disability Grant on 07 April, and Children’s Grant on 08 April.

May 2026: Older Person’s Grant on 05 May, Disability Grant on 06 May, and Children’s Grant on 07 May.

June 2026: Older Person’s Grant on 02 June, Disability Grant on 03 June, and Children’s Grant on 04 June.

July 2026: Older Person’s Grant on 02 July, Disability Grant on 03 July, and Children’s Grant on 06 July.

August 2026: Older Person’s Grant on 04 August, Disability Grant on 05 August, and Children’s Grant on 06 August.

September 2026: Older Person’s Grant on 02 September, Disability Grant on 03 September, and Children’s Grant on 04 September.

October 2026: Older Person’s Grant on 02 October, Disability Grant on 05 October, and Children’s Grant on 06 October.

November 2026: Older Person’s Grant on 03 November, Disability Grant on 04 November, and Children’s Grant on 05 November.

December 2026: Older Person’s Grant on 02 December, Disability Grant on 03 December, and Children’s Grant on 04 December.

January 2027: Older Person’s Grant on 05 January, Disability Grant on 06 January, and Children’s Grant on 07 January.

February 2027: Older Person’s Grant on 02 February, Disability Grant on 03 February, and Children’s Grant on 04 February.

March 2027: Older Person’s Grant on 02 March, Disability Grant on 03 March, and Children’s Grant on 04 March.

Grant Increases (Effective April)

Meanwhile, as announced by the Minister of Finance during his Budget Speech last month, social grants from April will increase as follows:

• Older Persons Grant, Disability Grant and Care Dependency Grant: Increase by R80 to R2 400.
• War Veterans Grant: Increase by R80 to R2 420.
• Foster Child Grant: Increase by R40 to R1 290.
• Child Support Grant and Grant-In-Aid: Increase by R20 to R580.

SASSA reiterates its commitment to paying social grants to eligible beneficiaries at the right time and appeals to all beneficiaries who may have not received their grants on these specified dates to visit their nearest SASSA local office for assistance.
